Continuing its productive partnership with ASM International Houston Chapter, the Rice AMPT Center is please to hoste ASM Houston’s 2023 Technical Seminar on Materials Engineering for the Energy Transition.

 

Call for Abstracts

Future energy systems must balance affordability, reliability, and sustainability.  Innovations in material science and engineering will be critical to achieving these objectives.  ASM International – Houston Chapter will host presentations that include (but are not limited to) the following areas of interest:

  • Minerals for the Energy Transition: Supply and Demand
  • Materials for Improved Energy Efficiency
  • Rare Earth Elements: Applications, Mining, Processing, Recycling, Substitution
  • Hydrogen Generation, Transportation, and Storage
  • Green Steelmaking
  • Carbon Capture and Sequestration
  • Geothermal Drilling
  • Challenges in Power Generation
  • Fuel Cells
  • Industry Electrification
  • Elimination of Hexavalent Chromium
  • Advances in Chemical Processing and Refining
  • Advances in Materials for Photovoltaic Cells
  • Test Methods for Assessment of Materials for New Energy Applications
  • Case Studies of Environmental Applications for Materials
  • New Laws and Regulations for the Energy Transilion
  • Failure Analyses in New Energy Materials

Abstracts must be submitted by May 31, 2023 for consideration.  Please contact ASM International – Houston Chapter at seminar@asmhou.org for questions, details. and to submit abstracts and presentations.

Presentations for distribution may be edited to exclude proprietary information or to include additional content which was not part of the oral presentation.

This seminar will provide 8 Professional Development Hours (PDH).  Certificates of attendance and completion will be issued by request. ‘
