The Institute for Nonlinear Dynamics of Coupled Structures and Interfaces (ND-CSI) is a six week long graduate student research collaboration hosted by Rice University. This year, students will work in teams of four on four problems germane to interfacial mechanics: wear evolving hysteresis models, comparison of the asymmetric numerical method with the harmonic balance method, high speed digital image correlation applied to the dynamics of a jointed interface, and the establishment of a new benchmark problem for the analysis of turbines. This year, the institute will be held at Imperial College London in July and August. For more information, contact Matthew Brake (brake at rice.edu) or visit the Tribomechadynamics Lab web page.
